Today can barely be defined as normal. The impact of COVID-19 has changed life from how we once knew it. For what seems abnormal for us, can be very normal for a person who is experiencing homelessness.
The homeless crisis didn’t go away when COVID-19 hit the nation and this city, in fact the need for services has intensified. The Bethesda Center is still open and serving the homeless community. We need you and your support!
You can’t appreciate what it means to be homeless until you have no other options. Join our livestream for this iconic community event that raises awareness and funds to support men and women experiencing homelessness in Forsyth County.
Our goal is to raise money and at the same time raise awareness by sleeping outside in various locations across the city. Just as last year, we have challenged local celebrities within the city to sleep out and raise money to support our mission. We are asking that you too show your support by tuning in to our virtual program, sponsor a virtual tent or make a donation.
This year we also debut a documentary of the life of homelessness in Winston-Salem. The documentary is a collaboration between Bethesda Center and Wake Forest University and was filmed by the students of the Wake Forest Film School. It captures real-life experiences of those suffering from homelessness right here in our city. You don’t want to miss it!
Bethesda Center operates a day shelter and emergency night shelter for homeless men and women in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.
As a non-profit, our operating funds come from contributions, grants and fundraising events.
